The Africa Fashion Week Sweden mission is focused on the promotion of African Fashion in Sweden. The organisation also provides a platform for African designers both from Sweden and abroad to showcase their collections and to share experiences. Every year, the Africa Fashion Week Sweden organizes events that brings together designers, promoters, artists and models who come to network, market themselves and learn from each other.

This time the Africa Fashion Week Sweden took place on the 3rd of September 2016 at the Clarion Hotel in Stockholm Sweden.

The event brought together different African designers, some travelling from other countries, to showcase their colorful and inspiring African wears.

The evening started with a formal introduction by the Mc Joseph Mbazira and Gina Manzi followed by the designers who presented themselves and their sponsors to the audience.

Amongst the audience, attending the event, was the vice presiden of Uganda, H.E Mr. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi.

The models took to the runway and displayed a wide variety of designs with clothing ranging from everyday wear, evening gowns to coats and matching couple's attire.

One of the most notable designers was Diana, who flew all the way from her homecountry Tanzania just to attend and display her designs. Her artful pieces are constructed including unusual material selections like plastic bottles and natural materials like wicker.

The audience was also provided with musical entertainment by artists like Lamin Cissokho, Sylvia and Irene and Cameroonian born, Swedish based DJ, Mike Ndip was on duty that day.
